Population Research

We explore innovations for healthy populations

We cultivate a research-oriented mindset that positions us to discover new ways to achieve better health outcomes for our clients. Our Population Health Initiative supports formal study of existing data, ongoing review of research and collaboration with other health organizations. Through both internal and external projects, we work to translate research findings into real world solutions to improve population health.

Delta Dental Health Informatics Visualization Platform. Our own Health Informatics Visualization Platform provides us with the ability to study the effects of population demographics and social determinants of health in real time. These agile, evidence-based assessments of the communities we serve drive the design and implementation of innovative population health management programs.

National Oral Health Data Portal. We support population health research on a national scale. As part of that commitment, we funded the development of a National Oral Health Data Portal by the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors. The portal consolidates oral health data sets from across the nation and provides actionable information to address the oral health needs of diverse populations.

PHOENIX Program. We provided funding for Wayne State University’s Population Health Outcomes and Information Exchange (PHOENIX) program. PHOENIX is the first interactive, shared database of its kind that provides visualization of disease-specific hotspots at the neighborhood level. The program enables identification of health risk factors, projects health benefits that result from targeted interventions and longitudinally tracks health outcomes over time. The goal of PHOENIX is development of a precision approach to population health that provides information to focus health improvement efforts where the need is greatest.
